Our Mission

A Nigeria Where Every Girl Blooms

We equip Nigerian girls with knowledge, skills, and confidence to lead healthy, safe, powerful lives.

Why We Exist

The Gap We Are Closing

In communities across Nigeria, girls are growing up without access to the health education, mentorship, and safe spaces they need to discover who they truly are and what they are capable of becoming.

They do not know what is happening to their bodies during puberty. They have no one to talk to about personal boundaries. They have never been told that science belongs to them too.

This is why GLYE exist, to let girls know who they are before the world teaches them differently.

Our Vision

A Nigeria Where Every Girl Blooms

We envision a Nigeria where every girl grows up with access to health education, personal safety knowledge, and the confidence to pursue science, leadership, and her own definition of success. We are building toward that Nigeria one school visit at a time.

Our commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals

3

GOAL 3
Good health & well-being
Why this matters:
Menstrual stigma is a key barrier to girls’ education and health. Without knowledge, girls internalize shame and miss opportunities.

What we do:
  • Menstrual health education
  • Distribute sanitary pads
  • Personal safety training
  • Connect girls to healthcare

4

GOAL 4
Quality education
Why this matters: Quality education must include STEM, leadership, and belief in one’s potential. Nigerian girls often internalize that science isn’t for them.

What we do:
  • Hands-on STEM activities
  • Show female role models
  • Build confidence in learning
  • Teach leadership skills

GOAL 3
Good health & well-being
Why this matters: Gender equality begins when girls know their rights, boundaries, and worth. Early empowerment compounds across a lifetime.

What we do:
  • Teach boundary-setting
  • Build agency & voice
  • Practice speaking up
  • Develop leadership
💡 About our SDG alignment
GLY Empowerment independently implements these three goals and is not currently a formal UN partner organization. We measure our impact against UN SDG indicators and report outcomes transparently. Our commitment to these goals reflects our commitment to girls and to the global movement for education, health, and equality.
